This week we continue our series After God's Own Heart as Corbin Ferguson explores one of the most sobering moments in David's life.

After making a prideful decision to take a census of Israel, David is confronted with the weight of his sin. His response teaches us an important truth: being after God's own heart doesn't mean living a perfect life—it means taking sin seriously and responding with genuine repentance.

Through David's story in 2 Samuel 24, we discover that conviction is not meant to push us away from God but to lead us back to Him. Ultimately, David points us to Jesus—the perfect King who took the judgment we deserved so we could experience God's mercy and grace.

Scripture:
2 Samuel 24

Key Thought:
Being after God's own heart doesn't mean being sinless. It means taking your sin seriously.
